Care Guide
Natural fibers perform best when treated right. Each fabric in the VELM range has specific care requirements to maintain shape, softness, and longevity.
100% Lyocell
Used in: AeroKnit™ (130g) · Strata™ (200g) · MotionKnit™ (180g) · TerraCore™ (158g)
Wash
30°C gentle wash. Turn inside out. Wash with similar colours. Use a mild, pH-neutral detergent.
Dry
Dry flat. Reshape while damp. Keep away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Tumble drying is possible on low heat but not recommended — it causes shrinkage and weakens the fiber over time.
Iron
Not recommended. Possible on low heat while slightly damp, with a pressing cloth. Wrinkles typically release on their own after hanging for a few minutes.
Storage
Fold flat. Knit fabrics stretch on hangers over time. Store folded in a drawer or on a shelf.
Lyocell / Merino
Used in: MicroTherm™ (150g) · Pulse™ (150g)
Wash
30°C gentle wash. Turn inside out. Wash with similar colours. Use a wool-specific or enzyme-free detergent. Merino is naturally antimicrobial — wash only when needed.
Dry
Dry flat. Never hang — merino blends stretch under their own weight when wet. Keep away from direct heat and sunlight. Do not tumble dry.
Iron
Do not iron. Wrinkles typically release on their own after hanging for a few minutes.
Storage
Fold flat. Use a mesh bag when washing to reduce pilling and friction against harder fabrics.
Organic Cotton
Used in: BioCell™ (180g / 220g)
Wash
30°C gentle wash. Turn inside out. Wash with similar colours. Wash darks separately for the first few washes to prevent colour transfer.
Dry
Dry flat. Air drying extends the life of the garment. Remove promptly to minimize wrinkles. Do not tumble dry.
Iron
Low heat if needed. Iron on reverse side. A light spritz of water helps smooth the fabric.
Storage
Fold flat. Organic cotton knits hold shape best when stored folded rather than hung.

General Care Notes
01
Wash less. Natural fibers are antimicrobial. They resist odor far longer than synthetics. Air out between sessions.
02
Skip the softener. Fabric softeners coat fibers with a waxy layer that blocks moisture wicking and breathability.
03
Expect minor shrinkage. Lyocell and cotton may contract 2–4% on the first wash. Garments are cut to account for it.
04
Use a mesh bag. For merino blends especially. Reduces friction, pilling, and snagging against zippers or harder fabrics.
05
Cold water saves everything. Every fiber in the VELM range performs better washed cold. Preserves elasticity, color, and shape.
06
Wash with similar colours. Especially for the first few washes. Natural dyes can transfer when new.
